Cartridge Heaters for Plastic Parts Manufacturer A plastic parts manufacturer was having trouble in removing spent cartridge heaters from the molds. Occasionally the heaters would seize and bind in the holes, forcing the maintenance department to drill the heaters out of the holes. This was causing significant downtime and increased maintenance costs. The manufacturer reached out to Durex to see if we could help them with the cartridge heater issue they were experiencing. We created a solution that uses a proprietary non-stick coating on the electric cartridge heater surface called Duraslik. This coating prevents oxidation on the electric heater sheath, which is the main cause of the cartridge heater binding in mold holes. The manufacturer chose to use the Duraslik coated cartridge heaters from Durex Industries. The binding of the heaters in the holes was virtually eliminated over time.
