CNC Set Up Operator - Lathe

Job Summary
Durex Industries is an ISO 9001 registered manufacturer of custom thermal components for any industry application that requires heat, sensing and temperature control. We have an immediate need for a CNC Set Up Operator (turning lathe machines). CNC Set Up Operators prepare and set up machines to fabricate highly precision-machined parts. Operators set up and operate close tolerance and conventional equipment, then fabricates and verifies precision machined parts and document actions.
Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare work assignment by organizing work, gathering supplies per schedule.
  • Fabricates highly precision-machined parts by operating turning centers and milling centers per work orders, routers & blueprints.
  • Set-up close tolerance and conventional equipment by studying drawings, samples, blueprints, and manuals, installing computerized instructions.
  • Documents actions by signing-off and completing forms, reports, logs ands and records.
  • Perform quality tests and operational checks.
  • Verifies parts by using precision measuring equipment.
  • Change tools and offsets.
  • Train CNC Operators as needed.
 
Experience and Skills Required:
We are looking for individuals who have a sense of urgency, are mechanically inclined, able to stand on a frequent basis and lift up to 30 pounds on an occasional basis. Individuals must be able to work 8-10 hours a day and, if necessary, 5 hours on Saturday.
Other skills include:
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to read calipers, micrometers, indicators, edge finder and blueprints.
  • Understand cutter compensation.
  • Basic understanding of programming.
  • Understands G Codes.
  • Knowledge of I & J Interpretation in circular Interpolation.
  • Calculate surface feed & RPM.
  • Knowledge of Tapping Cycle.
  • Ability to change tools and offsets.
  • Ability to change programs.
  • Understands speeds and feeds for materials.
  • Work independently.
  • Installs computerized instructions.
  • Safety/quality minded.
  • Good work ethic.
  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Able to effectively communicate to employees, departments and management.
  • Self-starter.
  • Takes responsibilities for own actions including the impact of own decisions on others.
