Materials Manager

Position Summary
The Materials Manager is responsible for the success of all aspects of the materials management process and the team. Focusing on optimizing supply chain efficiency, reducing costs and ensuring timely delivery of materials to support the production schedules to meet Durex customer requirements. The Materials Manager will lead the accuracy of all inventories, including transactions, procurement cost and the warehouse team.
Principal Activities
- Lead, train and develop the materials management team to enhance their skills and performance.
- Develop, implement, and manage fully integrated purchasing process that incorporates make versus buy, capacity planning, demand purchases through MRP, inventory, material, and associated cost elements.
- Perform analysis of material requirements with forecasts and historical usage to develop material acquisition plans sufficient to execute to customer demand requirements.
- Coordinate with cross-functional business teams to develop the best economic strategy to support production planning and meet customer demand.
- Establish and implement methods and best practices related to systems and processes that support inventory forecasting, purchasing, and material control.
- Develop and implement a sourcing strategy to optimize supply chain operations in the areas of:
- Raw materials
- Purchased Finished Goods
- MRO Supplies
- Identify, develop, and manage effective relationships with existing and potential suppliers of goods and services to meet the established cost, quality, and delivery targets.
- Establish, implement, and manage system to evaluate, monitor, and report supplier scorecard performance.
- Coordinate and work with quality, engineering, demand planning, and assembly operations to ensure adherence to on-time delivery metrics by establishing and monitoring vendor performance and proactively identify and address any issues.
- Responsible for accuracy of inventory counts by implementing and managing, in conjunction with accounting, an inventory control system, capable of identifying inaccuracies and taking adequate corrective actions to rectify.
- Participates as an active team member of the operations team in making cross-functional operations decisions.
- Participates in MRB and CAR meetings to resolve quality issues working with both internal and external sources.
- Collaborate with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality to achieve cost reduction targets.
- Create an environment for all reporting staff that is aligned with established company culture or respect, integrity, and teamwork.
- Performs various projects and analysis as required on an ad hoc basis
Key Accountabilities
- Ensure Durex is attaining the required KPI for inventory turns.
- Negotiates supply agreements, best price position and lowest lead times suppliers.
- Provides reports on inventory positions, usage and supplier ratings.
- Supervises procurement team, warehouse team and inventory analysts.
- Ensure purchase price variance (PPV) is monitored and kept in control.
- Ensure that critical raw material and components have established minimum and maximum inventory levels that are reviewed on a regular basis.
- Develop, lead and implement a cycle count program.
- Lead the Durex annual physical inventory.
Candidate Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- BS degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 5-7 years progressive experience in management of materials and sourcing within an engineer to order business and manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and their use in a manufacturing environment. MS Dynamics 365 a plus.
- Ability to demonstrate sound judgment with a high level of critical thinking and analytical problem solving skills.

- Self-motivated, driven, flexible and adaptable to complete assigned tasks; results driven.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a professional business environment verbally, electronically and written.

- Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship, both now and in the future.
APICS certification and experience with CIRM, CPIM or CPM preferred.

The work environment includes working in an office and production environment; may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, dust, heat and moderate noise from machinery while on the production floor. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but occasional visits to areas with high noise levels or other physical hazards will require the use of personal protective equipment. Safety glasses with side shields and steel-toe shoes are required on the production floor.
Work requires meeting performance deadlines and being exact or highly accurate; requires face-to-face interaction with individuals or teams, negotiating, reasoning and influencing others in a group or team using a participative management style with well-developed interpersonal skills.
This position is also an ‘onsite’ position and will require the employee to physically be located in our 190 office building.
