Analytical Instrumentation RTD Temperature Probe

An analytical instrumentation manufacturer of fast responding hot plates used in laboratory environments was experiencing problems with welded leads breaking and meeting flatness specifications on their RTD temperature sensors.  The flatness specifications of the RTD sensors is critical for accurate measurement and prevention of overshoot on the hot plate surface.

The Durex engineering team redesigned the temperature sensor wire connection to work within the parameters of the existing welding equipment and manufacturing processes. Manipulation of the welder settings along with proper fixturing to hold and align the connection points allowed us to create strong, flat weld points that have stood up to the harsh vibratory conditions found in this application.


The new robust RTD sensor probe design eliminated the lead wire breakage issue that the manufacturer was experiencing and provided a consistent flatness for optimum hot plate operation.
